A glimpse of Yukon Blonde (Vancouver)
Yukon Blonde played Phog at the end of February with Two For The Cascade, and it was epic.
Wonderful.
And I already have them booked again for May.
Construction and Destruction is a band, that when they were first recommended to me by Dr. Disc owner Liam O'Donnell, I knew was going to be great.
They play a certain kind of east coast music that reminds me of certain parts of other bands from out that way: Museum Pieces and Eric's Trip to name two.
The sound at the live show is notably scarce. A two-piece usually. But it's the kind of stuff I've come to enjoy...quite a bit.
Because of Liam's friendship with this musical couple, I've asked The Last Trio (Alan Penner, Liam O'Donnell +1) to play this show. Which is code for, the best vibe in all of Windsor will be happening in Phog Lounge on December 22nd.
To learn more about The Last Trio, see this quick interview I did with them: http://bit.ly/51TJIh
Come out. It will be fantastic and friendly.
I did this interview with them recently. It'll give you some sense of what kind of awesome they bring to a room. I think it's absolutley ideal for the winter months.
Rah Rah is just one of those bands.
Rock/Pop/Indie perfection. They make people dance with almost every song they perform.
You find yourself singing their songs while doing chores or driving around town. They are a six-piece, energetic, friendly, fun group, and they have made two big impressions to two small crowds.
Let's show them how Windsor enjoys its music community by coming out to this one and supporting this AMAZING band coming all the way from Regina, Saskatchewan!
As if you needed another reason, Stereo Goes Stellar, local darlings, will be joining the bill, representing the performers of Windsor as good as anyone could ever hope. I'm super excited to see both of these bands on Tuesday.
Use this link below to see some live video action of the last time Rah Rah played Phog.
Said The Whale had a majorly successful CD release party at Phog this month.
It was epic.
They were amazing, there were almost 100 balloons in the room, there was a confetti cannon, party hats, five CDs given away to the first five people to the show, and there was a renewed friendship.
This band is our friend.
So here are some videos I had yet to upload to Youtube at the time of the promotion for their last show.
These videos are from their SECOND-last show here, before the Canada Day live CBC TV broadcast where Ben wore the Phog Lounge t-shirt while performing and meeting the Governor General of Canada.
Hey Ocean just left Phog least week after an incredible show. Dan Mangan is relatively unknown in Windsor, for no good reason, and is on his way here for October 9th with Will Currie & The Country French as well as Windsor's own Field Assembly.
Here's a video of Dan Mangan and Hey Ocean covering a Wintersleep song that I've been enjoying since it came out.
Come get your advanced tickets for the Dan Mangan show. $7 Advanced. $10 at the door.
Plagued by Denial stickers and permanent puke-coloured film, the Phog urinal has had a facelift. Our cleaning lady, Tiny, applied drain cleaner to the wretched smoker's teeth porcelain and destroyed the years of gross that were bothering patrons for years.
Chase Gouin puts on one of the best things EVER in Phog Lounge
Here is some video of Chase Gouin, local flatland bike legend. Darren shot this video, and did a fine job if I do say so myself. Can you even imagine this occurring IN THE BAR? In the front room of Phog Lounge? It was stellar.
Enjoy this lovely surprise. This will only be new to you if you didn't pay attention over the last two days. This is AWESOME. If you ever doubted things were changing for the better, this is one example!
And secondarily, this video was shot a day later..
And in the vid, I say that I think George Manury from Rogues Gallery Comics is responsible for the art...but I meant Rizok. They're almost the same guy, no?
Check it out, it was nuts. There were several unpredictable combos and unusual performers...but ALL AMAZING! See for yourself. Wait until you see Julio!
