Phogoween is Coming

Hey kids, Phogoween is this Saturday April 28/07. Dress up or not it will be fun and stuff. Not_Digital, Hunter Eves and Lisa Poushinsky will be performing LIVE! No lip sinking here Fu@*#rs. If Tom feels like it he may give something away to best costume. Who knows?
Feel free to dress up like one of my two friends I met on Vacation. Gorn from the classic Kirk ands Gorn fight on some unknown planet or the Salt Vampire that would magically disguise itself as a hot woman then suck the blood out of your balls with her sucky hands. I'm sooo cool.

Windsor Live Music: Stellar Weekend

We have, easily, one of the strongest weekends I can remember in a while.

20 - Barzin (Toronto) wsg Bellewoods (Toronto) & Ten Year Drought
21 - The Superfantastics (Halifax) wsg The Silt (Toronto)

To begin with, Barzin is one of the best "quiet" musicians we have ever brought to Phog. Caleb from What Seas, What Shores was the initial person inviting him here, and it was insanely good. This time, Barzin returns under his own choices, and brings Bellewoods, who are going to wreck you in the same way Barzin can. And what can I say about Ten Year Drought? Adam Fox is back in town, and they have added Ryan Fields as a guitarist. A four-piece version of this band will kill my face off. I mean that, figuratively and literally, if that's possible.

Go to their sites and listen to their samples. This will give you all you really need to know about how slick their sounds are.

As for the Saturday, The Superfantastics' samples on myspace are amazing. I have been listening to Vantastic over and over again. They are playing with The Silt, who was recently given almost a full page in Exclaim Magazine (Wood, Wind, and Wire section). DO not miss these shows. Seriously, this is an incredibly talented set of performers playing together for the first time, I believe.

Windsor Live Music: Emm Gryner is coming!

Emm Gryner will be playing Phog on April 27th with Royal Wood!
Our very own home-grown Dean Drouillard will be playing guitar for both artists as well.
Tickets are $10 even though they could sell at $15 or $20.
Spots can be reserved right now by simply paying the $10 and giving the names of the people being payed for. Your spot will be held.

"She then moved to Toronto, and the following year formed her own label, Dead Daisy Records, through which she released her second album, The Original Leap Year. In 1997 she was invited to play a set at Lilith Fair and subsequently was signed to Mercury Records in 1998, under whom she released her album Public.

After parting ways with the label in 1999, she released several more records under the Dead Daisy banner: Science Fair in 1999, Dead Relatives in 2000, Girl Versions in 2001, and Asianblue in 2002. The album Girl Versions is entirely covers, featuring heavy metal and rock tunes such as "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne and "Pour Some Sugar On Me" by Def Leppard. She toured extensively in David Bowie's backup band during 2000 and 2001. She also toured with Swedish band The Cardigans in 2004 on the Chicks With Attitude tour.

David Bowie named Gryner and Godspeed You! Black Emperor his two favorite Canadian acts during a promotional interview for his Reality album. In the November 2006 issue of Q Magazine, celebrating the magazine's 20th anniversary, U2 frontman Bono recognized the track "Almighty Love" from Emm's new album as one of six songs that he wished he had written from the last 20 years of music."
